Dayak LongHouse Stay
Longhouse stay at Kampung Braang Payang, Jln Puncak Borneo (About 60KM from Kuching City).
What else!!! ……….. staying in that same 5 star hotel comfortable facilities, imported mattresses and air conditioned rooms surrounded by the same familiar concrete wall and choked up by concrete jungle!!!!!! Same old stuff days in and days out……

Yes……it is a new experience in a long house stay. The long house is specially built in the very original of Dayak’s designed. All rooms are having an attached bathroom and surrounded by special woven sago leaves and the long house itself is underneath the trees which is surrounded by plants. This gives a good cooling effect even during the hot and sunny afternoon
To top it all, our bedding style is the very Dayak original which were being practiced in the last 19th Century before the arrival of the imported culture of sleeping in Dunlop mattresses and pillow. This bedding had been proven during that time to give the dayak strength and energy to survive a longer age and remain agile in maneuvering themselves in the thick jungle/forest and steep terrain in spite of no modern medical facilities to depend on.
How?????? The bedding …it is made of original woven Dayak mats on top of special species of bamboo and firm curved wooden pillow for therapeutic sleep. It helps to contour the alignment of your bones particularly the spine while you sleep leaving you invigorated and rejuvenated when you wake up in the morning. Proven experience to some in relieving their backaches and neck pain.
Any other trip/activities will be charged according to the complexity of such trip or activities. These are some of the following:
- A visit to a Tunnel which goes through the mountain. Here you can have the opportunity to see where a stream stop at one side of the mountain and continue on the other side of that mountain. See it and you believe.
- Cave exploration(5 hours trip to/fro) – sleeping one night while at the same time learning the dayak skill of catching and cooking the edible bats.
- A hill trekking(3 hours trip to/fro) to visit the sacred legendary stone called “Buk Benang(Benang’s grandmother) an old woman who turned into a stone when she died. Observed an absolute a deep respect when you are there as mishap can happen to any individuals who show disrespect. This had happened as recent as a couple of years ago. So do not try it
Other facilities.
- Four Fish Ponds for fishing activities.
- Resource centre for briefings and discussion;
- BBQ pits;
- Two Flashing Toilets and 6 outdoor showers at the park.
- Bistro cum pub that serves authentic local and western food – it serves as the village’s “in place” with Karaoke during weekend or public holiday. This is an opportunity for the guest to mingle with the local villagers during their stays in Agro-Touri Longhouse
- Carom board and a mini-library at resource centre;
- Souvenir shop cum convenient mart;
- Short foot trails within the 7 acre land.
