Check out this picture. It was taken by Wayne, our guest and long lost brother from Hawaii. Your photos are still with Charles and Feli.
Good god, the camera flash almost “X-Rayed” the little bat.

Maps, Location, oh my god.. am i lost?
I have meant to do this months ago but to explain a 45 minutes journey from Kuching is not easy
.

1. For those who are in Kuching, drive all the way to 10th Mile and enter 10th Mile Bazaar.
2. From there, drive upward using Padawan/Borneo Height roads. You will pass Semengok Wild Life Sanctuary, Rajah Brooke Memorial Hospital, Nursing College,Pulapol (Pusat Latihan Polis), and a few hardware shops. Drive further till you reach Kampung Benuk. Ask around if you are lost. Local knows the whole Padawan/Bengoh area like the back of his hand.
2. Upon reaching Kampung Benuk, remember to turn to the right junction. You will passing an Anglican Churh, a furniture store and then a bridge.
3. Drive more and you will see Kampung Giam (Giam Waterfall). Another 20 minutes will take you to Kampung Braang Bayur junction.
4. Enter the junction and you will cross a bailey bridge/metal bridge. On your left is the construction of Rural Grow Center. Its not yet complete.
5. Dont drive straight up. Take your right turn and then left. The tarred road will lead you to gravel/unpaved road. Now the journey becomes an adventure instead. The stony road onward will lead you to Kampung Singandar, a school, and 2 wooden bridges.
6. Drive up till you reach Kampung Braang Payang, where Agrotouri is situated!
I know its a bit a confusing. Heck, thats a description of 50km journey. With no distinguish landmark, its kinda scary once you have lost the trail.
Dont give yourself a headache. Contact us. We will be delightful.
Give us a call ( James : 0198890157 or Charles : 0135722259 ) and we don’t mind to lead or pick you up from the airport or anywhere in Kuching.
Cheers

ICATS Visit in mid April 2008
These pictures are like more than 7 months old. A group of 20s for ICATS came for lunch. They were touring Padawan, on their way to Annah Rais.
Don’t you just love kids.. especially Twin.. with their “big gleaming innocent eyes” looking at you. Sometime, i just want to drown in them and forget about the world, downturn economics and wars. Oh schuck, Sabarau waterfall, here i come!

Yours truly,
Charlie and Cobain

Anglo Chinese Junior College 2008
I remembered talking to Miss Candida and Issaac , being a teacher to 20 wonderful students who visited our humble park i mid November. Both told me it is tough to be a teacher as the future of these students are in their hand. Not only practical and theories comes to mind, but the character / attitude of these student are their great concern as well. Such teaching professionalism is quite “rare” in our local education system. I could sensed the good values that both teacher tried to set and express to their students. It was inspiring and refreshing, for lately, my life has been a merry go round and “roundabout”. I have to be more serious.
Thank you Anglo Chinese Junior College for spending a week with us. Colin and myself sat in the longhouse last night and thought about the good time we all had. We miss your laughter.
AgroTouri, Kampung Braang Payang, Sekolah Rendah Plaman Sigandar would like to express thank & gratitude from the bottom of our heart.
p/s: more photos will be up soon!

Hong Kong Movies & Visitors
I’m used to be a big fan of Hong Kong movies during the early 90s. Chow Yun Fatt, my fave action pack hero. Stephen Chow, in love with his hilarious antic; and Andy Lau / Aaron Kwok, hairdo that every boy in my class would try to imitate. Hairstyle like them will definitely win any girl’s heart.
Anyway, these photos has nothing to do with those famous people i have just mention. It remind me of our friendly visitors from Hong Kong, in the month of July (i presume). They were here to carried out voluntary social work. “Voluntarism”, all the way from Hong Kong. Sigh, i just cannot find the time to “gotong royong” last Saturday. ( gotong royong means working together for the good of community ).

She’s the one, by Robbie William of Agrotouri
I have been singing “She’s The One by Robbie William”, non stop ever since i bought his karaoke cd album. Apparently, i have been singing my soul out for this one special Bidayuh Lady from Tebiak area. A very rare human specimen. Check out those bracelets on her legs. The bracelets is a form of beauty accesories practiced in the past.
Can you imagine that she walked about 50km from the mountain range, where The Tebiak community resided. It takes them 2 days to reach here. Due to its location, which is pretty much isolated from modernization, most of the Bidayuh Tebiak community still practice old way of living. I wish i could hike there one day to witness the Dayak life way before my time. Need to keep myself fit. Eat more oatmeal and less fried noodle.
However, Im lucky to be able to see a living traditional Bidayuh Lady. I’m quite sure i will not last 10 minutes going up hill. I might sing her a song or two while she is around
.

p/s: Thankyou Candice, Beatrice and Issaac for visiting us. Hope to see you soon.
Weekend adventure & Edible Snails
I thought i have lost these lovely pictures, and out of nowhere, it appears in my dad’s notebook. Glad i found it or else it would be another lost memory with my great Bro Stalin and his friend, Tony. Stalin promised Tony that he would showed him the wonder of Sarawak, beyond our shopping mall and Ruai Apai pubs
.
Tony is from KL and have ever worked in the United States for freaking 10 years. He is a fun guy to be with. I agree to tag along since i wanted to try out my company’s GPS gadget. Gotta force myself to learn and keep my job until i finally paid my loans… hahha..
Ok.. we walked through the thick rain forest, passed by small streams and finally reach our destination.
oh yes, two of my close cousins followed. Terrence ( AgroTouri’s own traditional dancer ) and Paul (tour guide). Terrance wanted to look for river snail for tonight’s dinner.
Lo and behold, ” Saquacth or Big Foot” taking bath at God’s water wonder.
After dipping and bathing for 2 hours… yes, 2 straight hours, our toe begins to feel numb. Its time to look for snail. River snail can be easily found on river rock or where the water is a bit murky.
River snail are one of Dayak local delicacy. Cooked either soup or with “tempoyak” (fermented Durian). Its a protein source, just like fish. These are fresh rock water river snail. The taste kind of different compare to muddy snail. When cook properly, its texture are just like chewing gum. Yummy!
Time to go home. A refreshing weekend getaway from bustling city and shopping mall.
Cheers

Dayak Traditional Longhouse
Its tough to find a real Dayak Traditional Longhouse, unless you make a visit to Museum or Kampung Budaya. As cliche as it sound, its has been echoed by young and old Dayak that the Longhouse we live in today has transform into modern house/home. Modernization and knowledge has taught the Dayak to build house in more efficient and lasting approach. Brick, cement and zinc rooftop has replace the natural resources harvested from mother earth.
As the new dayak generation, I am glad my elder and ancestor has preserved these natural resources despite modernization aggressively encroaching our life. Agro Touri is proudly present to you, “The Dayak Longhouse Stay” .
Back to basic, back to nature. Live a life that once, as innocent as our mother nature.
Sleep on mattress made of leaves and bamboo. Experience nature’s heaven underneath lushes of tree and the midst of fresh air.
Contact Mr. Agro : 019-8890157 or email him at agrotouri@gmail.com . Hope to share it with you one day!
